Inter-Sectoral Collaboration

Hi, I am Caroline Abla, the GNC Inter-Sectoral Collaboration (ISC) Helpdesk within the Global Nutrition Cluster Coordination Team (GNC-CT), and I am also part of the Alliance’s Technical Support Team. I am dedicated to strengthening intersectoral/cluster collaboration - particularly between the Health, WASH and Food Security Clusters at the global, regional, and country-level. I do this by providing quality strategic vision, technical guidance, mentoring, training, and day-to-day support, especially to country sectors/clusters.

Before joining the GNC I worked as a consultant with UNICEF and WFP on the development and testing of an integrated multi-sectoral training package for better nutrition outcomes in emergencies; with UNICEF and the Ministry of Health in Oman on barrier analysis studies focused on Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF) and iron folate consumption for pregnant women. I also worked with the Emergency Nutrition Network on IYCF in Emergencies, and with Action Against Hunger and UNICEF on Nutrition in Emergencies training in South East Asia, and the Middle East.

Prior to my consultancy work, I was the Senior Director of the Technical unit and the director of the Nutrition, Food Security and Livelihoods unit at International Medical Corps. I also held technical advisory and management positions at the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Bureau of Global Health and USAID's Office of Foreign Disaster Assistance responding to disasters worldwide.

I have a BS in Nutrition, a Master of Public Health in International and Family Health, and over 29 years of experience in managing nutrition and public health programs both in the field and at headquarters.
