The Nutrition Department in the Palestine Ministry of Health carried out systematic revision, updating, and consolidation of the Maternal, Child, and Adolescent National Nutrition Protocols that were developed by the USAID-funded MARAM Project in 2004. The review aimed at updating the national nutrition protocols in Palestine in line with international standards, to be locally appropriate, easily referenced, and accessed. The review was based on the nationally adapted Integrated Management of Childhood Illness) (IMCI) guidelines, antenatal care programs in primary health care services.
The protocols under review had nutrition for adolescents and school children which required Technical Support. As such UNICEF requested GNC Technical Support to carry out a technical review of the draft guidelines to identify the areas that need restructuring and/or additional alignment with global guidance.
